The Area around Shielfoot

The Ardnamurchan and Moidart areas are one of the best-kept secrets of the Scottish Highlands, steeped in history, full of wildlife but uncrowded with visitors. Riverview is on a peninsula but the roads to Shielfoot, both of which take you through impressive mountain ranges, make the area seem more like an island.

We have many beautiful, safe and empty beaches. Dorlin, Sanna, Gorten, Ardtoe, Glenuig and Morar are all within easy reach by road, and many others, where the only signs of life you will find will be otter footprints, can be reached on foot.

Eating out or seeing the sights is no problem either - we have a wide variety of excellent pubs and restaurants, and such sights as the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the most westerly point in mainland Britain, or the wildlife hide on Loch Sunart cannot be missed.

To get to Riverview Caravans at Shielfoot from the South (Glasgow, Oban or Stirling)

Take to A82 from Crianlarich or the A828 from Oban. At Ballachulish go north on the A82 towards Fort William. Just beyond Onich take the Corran Ferry to Ardgour, turning left as you leave the ferry on to the A861 - follow this road all the way to Acharacle and continue through the village. Just before the bridge over the river, turn left for Shielfoot. Follow this road until the very end - Riverview is on the left.

To get to Riverview Caravans at Shielfoot from the North (Fort William or Skye)

Take the A830 from Fort William or Mallaig and go to Lochailort. Turn (left from Fort William, right from Mallaig) on to the A861 and follow this road towards Acharacle - cross the bridge over the River Shiel (just before Acharacle) and immediately turn right for Shielfoot. Follow this road until the very end - Riverview is on the left.
